Pass by the statue of King D. Sancho at the entrance of the castle dating back to the Christian Reconquest of the Iberian Peninsula by the Portuguese. Continue through the castle to visit the city of Silves. Walk through its picturesque streets full of typical craft shops in the region. Choose to have lunch in Silves or Serra de Monchique, on your own. Then go to the Baths of Monchique. It is a village and spas located south of the village of Monchique, The therapeutic properties of the local waters have been recognized since the time of the Roman Empire, when they were given the designation of sacred waters. Learn how these hot springs come from eight springs and are rich in bicarbonate, fluoride, silica and sodium. They are used as a treatment for respiratory and digestive problems, as well as for muscular and rheumatic problems. Continue to the top of the mountain, the Fóia, known as the highest place in the Algarve. Drive through eucalyptus forests and pine trees on the way to the summit, with 902 meters high.
